More Future Upcoming Marvel Movies? Reboots, Spin-offs, and New Characters to Hit The Silver Screen or Just Rumors!

So what are the future upcoming Marvel movies? Well, we know that Marvel Studios has confirmed an Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 is set for 2013, but what about other movies post Avengers? Here's the scoop on many of the future Marvel movies that have been rumored to hit theaters in the future, as well as reboot news and new characters to get the spotlight.

Marvel's "phase two" is what President of Production at Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, calls the comic book movies that are on the hot seat post Avengers. Yes, Antman was mentioned. Actually, it's been mentioned for a long, long time, and that makes sense.

After all Henry Pym is an original Avenger in the Marvel Comics, and so is his wife Janet Pym aka The Wasp. It makes sense to have this character part of the Marvel movie continuity, and according to Feige, "Phase two" will be building to an Avengers sequel.

However, writer Edgar Wright said last year, "The way we wrote the script is for it to be a standalone genre film," Wright said, perhaps indicating that "Ant-Man" would be less explicitly tied to the "Avengers" family of titles like "Captain America: The First Avenger," "Thor" and "Iron Man." Wright continued by explaining his desire to "create an 'in' for people so you don't have to know 50 years of 'Avengers' history to enjoy the movie."

Errr...I hope the Antman movie does tie in to the Avengers sequel, and you don't need to know 50 years of Avengers history. All you need to know is that the Antman was an original member of The Avengers in the comic book.

With DC and WB's successful reboot of The Batman movie franchise with Christopher Nolan at the helm, it seems Marvel has jumped on "reboot" train with The Amazing Spider-Man expected to come out this year.

However, the buzz has been going around Hollywood and comic geeks about a possible Daredevil reboot. Will Daredevil be part of Marvel's "rebooted" movie line? I like that - Marvel Rebooted.

Sources are revealing that director David Slade, who directed 30 Days of Night in 2007 and the The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, is in discussions or "talks" in developing and directing a new Daredevil movie by 20th Century Fox and Regency. Also, the new Daredevil movie will be adapted from the critically acclaimed comic book story-arc, Born Again, written by legendary comic artist and writer, Frank Miller (Sin City & 300).

In the Born Again story line, The Kingpin learns of Daredevil's identity and begins to methodically destroy the superheroes life. No writer has been attached to the film, but studio revealed that it's aim to continue where the Daredevil movie in 2003, starring Ben Affleck, left off. Affleck is not attached to the film, but Slade has announced that Josh Harnett may be playing the new Matt Murdock.

Sorry, it looks like no reboot for Daredevil, but a sequel to the first movie, which was a disappointment. The new Daredevil movie is in "development."

Yes, it seems that 20th Century Fox does not want to give up on the Fantastic Four franchise and is still looking to mine one of Marvel's very first superhero teams before their licensing agreement with Marvel ends, and it's ending pretty soon.

However, according to T.G. Daily, Fox wants Chronicle director, Josh Trank, to helm the new FF reboot. Fox already has a script for the reboot, penned by Michael Green (Green Lantern). No cast has been confirmed, and Trank hasn't yet agreed to take on the project.

Personally, I hope Fox is not able to make a new Fantastic Four movie and the character's rights goes back to Marvel. Marvel Studios has been putting out better movies, and if there's to be a Fantastic Four reboot, I hope Marvel Studios has control on this one.

I'm not too crazy about a FF reboot written by Michael Green either. The Green Lantern script was undeniably weak, and the movie was sub par.

However, we shall see, as everyone knows how greedy these movie studios can be when it comes to rushing a project and putting out pure garbage.

UPDATE: Chronicle director Josh Trank and upcoming script writer Jeremy Slater are now attached to the Fantastic Four reboot. No official news has been released otherwise.

Okay, back in early 2011, everyone was wondering if Hawkeye was going to be in the Avengers. Now we know that Hawkeye will be assembled in one of the most ambitious comic book movies to ever hit the screen, the new question is will the Hawkeye character be spun-off into his very own solo movie?

Although Jeremy Renner has said that anything's possible, it doesn't look like a Hawkeye solo movie is in the works in the near future. I'm certain he'll probably appear as a supporting character in the S.H.E.I.L.D movie before Hawkeye gets a solo movie.

Marvel has a lot of other characters and themes they want to introduce to the silver screen.

Marvel's President of Production, Kevin Feige, has given us a glimpse of what he and Marvel Studios has planned concerning more comic book movies to hit the silver screen soon. While addressing D23: The Official Disney Fan Club, Feige says,

“And, we’ve got a lot of other characters we’re prepping and getting ready for film debuts: the world of martial arts, these great cosmic space fantasies, Dr. Strange, and the magic side of the Marvel Universe. There are many, many stories to be mined.”

"The World of Martial Arts." Does this mean they're prepping for an Iron Fist movie? After all, this character is the most popular martial arts character in the Marvel Comic Universe, and his character does have to do with a bit of magic.

Now it seems Marvel Studios has signed on a writer to pen the Iron Fist movie. Who is this lucky fella? Rich Wilkes, who wrote the screenplay to xXx, will script the Iron Fist movie, and actor Ray Park has expressed a desired interest in playing the role of Danny Rand. However, that was a year ago and now that Marvel has gotten the rights back to the character, who knows who they have in mind to play The Immortal Iron Fist.

This movie is in development, and I am interested in actually seeing this one made.

Well, you heard it from Kevin Feige himself. Marvel is looking to open up their comic world of magic in the theaters...probably because someone saw the success of the Harry Potter movies and went, "Gee we should capitalize on that trend and do a Dr. Strange film."

However, remember the Thor movie, and the relics in Odin's vault? Well, one of those relics, besides the Frost Giant's Casket of Ancient Winters, was the Eye of Agamotto. As fans know, the Eye of Agamotto is just one of Dr. Strange's mystic amulets. Take a look at Odin's Vault to see the artifacts that you may have missed in the Thor movie.

With Feige saying that Marvel wants to open up the different worlds that Marvel has, such as magic and cosmic fantasies, is the Avengers movie a gateway to open up these other sides of the Marvel Universe with characters such as Dr. Strange, Iron Fist, and even a Thanos appearance in The Avengers?

Take a look at the vault and you'll see the Infinity Gauntlet in there. It seems this just may very well be the case. Feige also told Blastr.com that a feature film about the master of dark magic and sorcery probably will happen “sooner rather than later” and might even be part of what Feige calls “phase two” in the Marvel movie continuity.

It looks like A Dr. Strange movie will get a spotlight on the silver screen.

Kevin Feige has talked a lot about Marvel Studios opening the door to Marvel's cosmic universe when it comes to upcoming Marvel movies, and one of them being is The Inhumans. Don't know who the Inhumans are in the Marvel Comics? Don't feel bad. Most don't. They are third-tier characters and, unless you're a huge comic book fan and geek, you probably have no idea that these characters even exist.

So here's a little background on The Inhumans. The Inhumans were genetic experiments on prehistoric humans, created by the Kree alien empire. This result in a race of humans with special powers. The Kree gave up control of the Inhumans, and allowed them to build their own empire and civilization on the moon.

How is Marvel Studios going to treat the Inhuman's comic book lore? According to Kevin Feige, the movie will center around the premise of "aliens who were sent to Earth disguised as humans to assemble the rest of their race and take over their home planet."

Another log line is: "Aliens who were put on Earth as sleeper cell aliens to eventually call back their race to take over the planet. Ultimately, the group of aliens fully assimilates and don’t want to cause war."

Uh, errr, okay there! I'm not too thrilled about how that sounds. I like the original lore better. The Inhumans will be an ensemble cast like the Avengers, and like The Guardians of the Galaxy.

The movie, of course, will center around The Inhuman's king, Black Bolt, and his royal family. This project has no script yet and no director signed on.

Wow talk about Marvel Studios trying to get their more obscure titles and characters some extra juice. I doubt most don't even know who The Guardians of the Galaxy even are. Don't worry. They are not popular comics or even characters.

I'm scratching my head at why Marvel Studios want to gamble on making movies for their more obscure comic titles. There's so many other characters comic fans would love to see, but whatever. Talks of this being a post Avenger movie has been hot, especially since Marvel's President of Production has been talking a lot about a big Marvel space epic.

The movie would be the revamped 2008 version of The Guardians of the Galaxy, which involves a team of different species forming together to literally protect the galaxy. The reason for this is to have the team involve some bigger names than the original such as Adam Warlock and Quasar. Oh, yes, and they are from the future. That's the neat part.

If we are talking about possible Avenger's spoilers, this would make sense if Thanos is introduced as a villain in the upcoming Avengers movie. How is this so, for those of you who don't know much about the comics? Well, Adam Warlock and Thanos have been loose allies and bitter enemies.

It would make sense to have a future Guardians of the Galaxy movie after the Avengers if, indeed, it's true that the Avengers will have Thanos or even a cameo at the end of the movie.

The film is in active development. No script or director has been confirmed.
