One secret is already out of the bag concerning comic books, and that's comic investing and investing in comics can be quite profitable. There's no doubt about that, considering that both the first appearances of Superman and Batman sold for more than a million dollars. That's not sold together. That's sold for over a million dollars each!

However, if you've read any of my other articles about comic investing, you'd know that these comics are few and far between. Yes, those comics that sold for those ridiculous prices are the highest grades of that particular issue. That means they are extremely rare.

Yes, comic investing can be a great investment choice, and here's a very simple secret in helping one choose certain comic book investments to get!

That's right, and you did read that right. Comic book movies are some of the best indicators of what's going to be hot and in demand for certain comics. You better believe the hype of a comic book movie can sky rocket the value and demand for a certain character or comic book title.

For example, The Amazing Spider-Man Vol 1 #6, first appearance of The Lizard, went into high demand the moment Marvel Studios confirmed that The Lizard would be the next villain in The Amazing Spider-Man. The values for that book are sure to go up in the next Overstreet Price Guide.

Then, of course, you have The Avengers movie, and the first appearance of the character Hawkeye in Tales of Suspense #57 Vol 1 is going well over guide even on ebay. You can be sure that the Overstreet Price Guide coming out around this summer will have to catch up on those prices as well.

Learning about upcoming DC Comic movies or Marvel Comic movies coming soon is a great way in predicting which comics and key issues should be next on your list. You need to get on the ball as early as possible, which means following the comic rumors and news about which upcoming DC Comic movies or Marvel Comic movies that may be coming soon. The longer you wait to get these key issues the more you will pay and less investment profit you'll make.

So, following the rumors and news of comic book movies is critical. Sometimes even rumors will give a comic book a push in demand. Doing your research is important. You will need to know these things:

1. Which character may be getting the spot light on the silver screen.
2. Who the villain will be.
3. The first comic book appearance of the hero in question.
4. The first comic book appearance of the villain in question.
5. What other supporting characters will be in the movie (for example, Gwen Stacey or Norman Osbourne, Lois Lane, Peggy Carter, Pepper Pots, etc.)
6. Which comic books did these supporting characters first appear.

You do not have to invest in all the key issues pertaining to a certain comic book movie. Usually, most collectors will gun for the hero and villain's first comic book appearance. Sometimes, a key issue comic like Amazing Spider-Man #121 (The Death of Gwen Stacy) will get more push in demand than the character's first appearance. However, in this case and considering silver age Spider-Man's are extremely in demand right now, getting Gwen Stacey's first appearance - Amazing Spider-Man #31 - is a good comic book investment choice!

I have no doubt that Marvel Studios is planning sequels to this Spider-man reboot, just like I'm sure that The Avengers will have a sequel. Right now key issues of The Avengers, Captain America and Thor are really good choices for comic investing. Their sequels will ensure that high demand for their key issues will be steady throughout several years.
