The List Of the Worst Comic Book Movies Ever! The Game!
Heya movie fans and comic book fans, I decided to switch things up a bit with this list of the worst comic book movies ever and make this a fun little game. So here's what's happening.
I'm going to list what I think the top worst comic book movies are (from my opinion) and why, and if you think I'm nuts for putting that comic book movie on this list, you can vote to save it or not.
Every week or two, I'll take down the movie with the most votes to save, and you all can comment on which comic book related movie to take it's place on this list. Sounds fun, right? So be sure to get your friends in on the fun and tweet this or facebook it.
Alright, let's get cracking...
Catwoman
Despite the fact that Halle Barry was super sexy in the Catwoman get up, this movie was highly disappointing. At least it was to me, and not only is it listed as one of the worst comic movies ever made, it's listed as one of the worst movies ever made.
The film even received seven Golden Rasberry award nominations and won in the categories of Worst Picture, Worst Actress (Halle Berry), Worst Director, and Worst Screenplay. Hale Barry even accepted the awards, while holding her Academy Award statue, thanking Warner Bros. for putting her in a "piece of shit, god-awful movie."
Hey, now, Halle! No blaming others for your mistakes. You had the choice in accepting to do the movie or not, but I guess even she got way too excited about playing a coveted, dearly loved comic book heroine that she forgot to read the script. Oops!
I thought the film was disappointing, because I really love the comic book character. She's actually on my top list of the best and sexiest female superheroes of all time. Nevertheless, there may be some people out there who actually liked this movie. Let's find out, shall we? Don't be shy. It's all anonymous anyways.
Save The Catwoman Movie from The Worst Comic Book Movies Ever Made?
Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
Yikes! I remember this movie, and it was hugely lame. The only thing good about this movie was how funny it was. Not funny in a good way or trying to be funny. It was comical because it was just that bad.
The storyline? Well ole Lex wants to make the world safe for nuclear arms merchants so he creates a super being out of pure radiation - Nuclear Man!
Nuclear Man as the main baddie? A radiation charged super villain? Sounds plausible, right? Wrong. Nuclear Man has got to be one of the worst villains ever created in mankind's history, and it shows on screen. His costume is pretty terrible as well, but I don't hold that against Mark Pillow who played the worst villain ever created.
Now, I could see the social/political awareness that this film tried to discuss, as well as the warnings. However, it just didn't stick. This movie has to be one of the worst. If you haven't seen it, don't!
The movie should have been called Superman: The Quest for A Good Script!
Save Superman IV: The Quest for Peace From This List?
The Punisher (1989 Starring Dolph Lundgren)
Okay, I'm not expecting too many youngins to remember this movie, but if you do and seen it, my condolences...seriously. I remember when this movie came out...I believe straight to video...but I was totally psyched.
A Punisher movie! Awesome! There's no way they can mess up The Punisher. I mean it's a badass dude with big guns going around shooting baddies. It's just basically the whole "Death Wish" movie concept, and I loved the Death Wish movie with Charles Bronson. That movie was one of the reasons why I became a huge Punisher comic fan.
Boy was I wrong. I remember there was a scene where The Punisher was riding a motorcycle through the sewers, and I was thinking, "What the...?" I even thought this whole movie was just a nightmare I had dreamed up one night until now...when I looked up the movie poster and actually found it.
Talk about total disappointment after watching this film. I don't even think I've still recovered from it.
Save The Punisher (1989) Movie?
Elektra
Oh, wow, do I really have to say why this movie was so terrible? Did anyone even like it? Of all the actresses in Hollywood, let's pick the one that least looks like the comic character. The least they could've done was dye Jennifer Gardner's hair black. Yes, Elektra is a raven-haired beauty in the comic.
One of the most badass assassins in comics, and Hollywood found a way to screw up the character. How could even mess up "The Hand," one of the coolest ninja assassin groups in comic books? Well, this movie found a way to do both with flying colors.
I have a really good feeling that most comic fans won't be disagreeing with me that Elektra is one of the worst comic book movies ever made.
Should We Save Elektra?
Batman Forever
Okay, the character of Robin just should NOT be in any Batman movie whatsoever. Chris Nolan got it right by keeping "The Boy Wonder" out of his films. Thank, God! Don't get me wrong here. I like the character of Robin, but I like him in the comic books.
But here's the truth now. Whether they took Robin out of the Batman comics really would have no effect on me. Much like The Penguin, Robin should leave Batman alone when it comes to the movies.
Once again, a ridiculous villain team up of The Riddler and Two Face, and these two characters are very, very plausible as stand-alone villains. Written well, Two Face can be a great villain for the silver screen. Just the same as The Riddler, if you gave him an updated and cooler costume and lose the green tights with all the question marks.
It also didn't help that Jim Carrey just rubs me the wrong way, and his acting is campy and cheesy to begin with. This movie is pure cheese. It's like the director and producers all said, "Hey, let's get some really good actors and have them act really terrible in this film (minus Jim Carrey 'cause he just acts terribly anyway)."
